At the SCA we know that parents and guardians are always looking for valuable opportunities and activities for their children throughout the year. During the summer months, we believe, camp is one of the most valuable investments you can choose for your child. Campers develop lasting friendships, learn new skills, grow in confidence, unplug from their devices and get outdoors! We believe that because of these outcomes (and more!) your child’s camp experience lasts overtime and is a valuable part of their learning landscape.
CONFIDENCE
Learn new skills and become more independent as you explore and play at camp.
PLAY
With lots to do, you’ll get a chance to enjoy structured and unstructured play with new and old friends.
UNPLUG
Become engaged in hands-on activities that don’t involve screen time.
FRIENDSHIP
Form quality relationships through shared experiences in a safe, positive environment.
At camp, each day brings the adventure of being outside, the excitement of trying new activities, and the accomplishing of new goals. From high energy wide games to quiet arts and crafts, camp is a place that engages the interests of campers and creates a safe environment to step outside comfort zones.
Camps are some of the most beautiful settings, where campers are engaged with nature and part of the invisible but experienced beauty of temporary community. Campers are invited into this community, away from their day to day routines and pressures, where they can be themselves and build their self confidence. Relationships are formed with new friends that can last a lifetime and caring adults become encouraging mentors. The dedicated staff found at camp take the time to journey with campers through experiences and thought processes, becoming significant role models in the years ahead. This is the value of camp.
The value of camp doesn’t end with childhood. Camp provides volunteer opportunities, leadership development programs, and staff positions. These opportunities offer youth and young adults the chance to grow in transferable skills like relationships and teamwork, empathy and compassion, and independence and perseverance. Look for camps offering leadership in training programs in our find a camp feature.
