Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Leads and coordinates program development and execution of Shekinah
Summer Camp and Shekinah School Programming.
● Assists the Executive Director(s) in recruiting, interviewing, hiring and training of
employees to help run the program (summer camp, school programming,
spring/summer staff).
● Supervises employee activity and delegates tasks.
● Manages budgetary and other financial issues relevant to the program or
department, including payroll, in conjunction with the Executive Director(s).
● Plans activities and special events related to the program.
● Promotes and markets programming, and any special events in conjunction with
the Executive Director(s).
● Sets program goals and devises new methods for improving and sustaining
program or department activity.
● Presents development ideas to the Executive Director(s).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
● Demonstrates excellent leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate
and earn the respect of other staff.
● Articulates and models Mennonite/Anabaptist practices.
● Possesses strong time management and organizational skills.
● Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate to/with other employees,
groups of children, and large groups of adults.
● Demonstrates working knowledge of computer software programs relevant to
the position and should be able to navigate new software programs as needed.
● Collaborates well with a team.
● Exhibits qualities of a creative thinker, necessary for planning the future
development of the program.
● Has the ability to maintain a calm demeanor and think fast in the face of a crisis
or dispute.
● Must have the energy and stamina required to supervise a number of indoor
and outdoor activities.
Education and Experience
● Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Tourism and/or Outdoor Recreation/Education
preferred.
● Two year’s experience in a similar work environment is preferred.
Work Environment
● Some time will be spent in an office setting, working with the Executive
Director(s) and other staff.
● Must be prepared to work outdoors for events and other activities.
● Moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, and lifting is involved in
many daily tasks.
● Some local travel to run errands and to visit related churches/schools may also
be required.
Terms of Employment
● Full time permanent position. (40 hours/week).
● Salary will be based on the grid outlined by Mennonite Church Canada. Salary to
be reviewed annually.
● Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings, when necessary, in order
to oversee program events.
● Pension and health benefits are provided in a plan administered by Mennonite
Church Canada.
● Must present a current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
before the start of employment.
● Rental accommodation available on site.
