Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:

Reporting to Camp Manager and under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Program Counsellors are responsible for the delivery of a creative, virtual camp program. The ideal candidates will have strong leadership and initiative skills, be team players, demonstrate energy and enthusiasm and have a good sense of fun and humour. We are seeking program counsellors with a strong appreciation and creative spirit that can develop and lead virtual camp programming in the areas of:

  • Arts appreciation, providing a wide variety of activities related to arts and crafts, music and drama while further developing camper’s appreciation, enjoyment and skills surrounding the arts
  • Science appreciation and provide a wide variety of activities related to science and the love of discovery
  • Sports and games, providing a sense of fun and play while adapting activities to meet the specific needs of the campers and their abilities
  • Outdoor adventure and provide activities related to the outdoors and nature appreciation, that are adapted so that all can participate



Education & Experience:

  • Educational background/experience in recreation, education, disability studies, social work, or related programs
  • Demonstration of experience in adaptive program planning is essential
  • Previous experience working or volunteering with persons experiencing disabilities considered an asset


  • Ability to develop and deliver innovative activities for all participants that meet the program objectives
  • Ensure activities are imaginative and engaging
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to lead campers, virtually, in details of program areas, safety protocols and planned activities
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple demands under pressure
  • Work with Program Coordinator to develop a program supply list and ensure equipment is safe and maintained
  • Participate in maintenance and cleaning of all program equipment and areas, as well as at the end of the camping season processes


Final Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search.
