Shekinah Summer Camp Kitchen Coordinator Job Description

 

Position: Summer Camp Kitchen Coordinator

Wage: $22/hour

Term: June 29th – August 28th 2026 (8 weeks total. Aug 7-14 will be a week off)

This position reports to: Executive Director

Vacation: Paid out through bi-monthly paycheques 

 

  •  Qualifications
  1. Must hold a valid Food Safe Handling Certificate and a valid Driver’s License.
  2. A keen interest in learning, expanding knowledge and personal development.
  3. Be living as a Christ follower, openly sharing His love and living a life that shows the fruit of the Spirit
  4. Must have 1 year of food management experience
  5. Possesses confident assertiveness and consideration when working with volunteers and staff 
  • Accountability
  1. Accountable to the Executive Director in carrying out the goals and vision set out by the Board of Directors.

 

  • Responsibilities
  1. Plan menus using the Canada Food Guide pertaining to children and youth and Shekinah recipes which have been popular in the past.  Creative ideas to supplement the menu are always welcome.
  2. Ensure that the camp kitchen pantry is fully stocked at the beginning of the camp season and at the start of each camp week by maintaining inventory and by ordering and  purchasing groceries.
  3. Cook meals during orientation week.
  4. Provide or make supper for camp counselors each Sunday before campers arrive.
  5. Orient, organize and provide guidance (if needed) to volunteer convenor 
  6. Follows Health and Safety Guidelines in regards to kitchen cleanliness and safe food practices.
  7. Uphold and apply all Shekinah policies.
  8. Works with the Program Director to fill any kitchen volunteer needs
  9. Steps in to assist kitchen volunteers with any needs or concerns they have 
  • Terms of Employment
  1. 8 weeks of employment. (1 week for set up and end of season cleaning/inventory, 1 week of orientation, 6 weeks of camp).  
  2. Must be available to work Sunday afternoon/evenings and all day Friday and then as needed.
  3. Expected to work between 30  to 35 hours most weeks
  4. Hourly position, paid bi-monthly.  Vacation pay to be paid out at each pay period.
